March 4, 2006 – January 8, 2025
Kanyon Bakutis brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew him. Born on March 4, 2006, Kanyon lived his life with fearless energy and a heart full of compassion.
Fishing was one of the few activities where Kanyon could embrace the quiet and stillness. Though he was not one to sit still, a fishing pole in his hand brought him peace and contentment. Those moments by the water were a rare and cherished respite for him.

Kanyon’s love for adventure was boundless. Known for saying, “Let’s go on an adventure,” he always sought new experiences and encouraged others to join him in exploring the world around them. He found joy in spending time with friends, creating memories filled with laughter and excitement.
Kanyon loved working with his hands. He was passionate about playing his guitar, crafting new beats on his keyboard, and experimenting with music software. Whether he was tinkering with his car, breaking it and then fixing it again, or pouring his creativity into his music, Kanyon’s hands were always busy bringing his ideas to life.
He was the kind of person who could light up any room with his smile, crack a joke to lift someone’s spirits, or offer one of his famous hugs that made you feel safe and cared for. His giving nature knew no limits; Kanyon was always willing to help others, often putting their needs above his own.
Kanyon’s battle with substance use began at the age of 14. Despite his struggles, his life and legacy inspire a message of hope and love. His journey has led us to create a scholarship in his honor, dedicated to supporting young people and families affected by substance use. Through this fund, we aim to provide resources and education on prevention, treatment, and recovery—offering a path forward to those who need it most.

Kanyon’s spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the love he shared. By contributing to this scholarship, you are helping to continue Kanyon’s legacy of kindness, courage, and care. Together, we can turn tragedy into hope and create a brighter future for others.
